About Immigration Psychology Associates

Our Story

Several years ago, Dr. Ray Kamoo was asked to conduct an "immigration evaluation" for a prominent Detroit-area immigration attorney. At the time, it was not clear what such an assessment involved, or why it was needed. 

Following many, many hours of reading through the limited articles and information that existed on the subject at the time, as well as seeking advice from other immigration attorneys, the value of objectively assessing a client's psychological functioning became immediately apparent.

Since that first evaluation, Immigration Psychology Associates (IPA) has grown into a nationally recognized resource that specializes in providing valuable diagnostic immigration evaluations and expert testimony for immigration attorneys and their clients.

What We Do

IPA's highly trained psychologists comprehensively and objectively assess the psychological impact to a client and their family to help support cases involving extreme hardship, asylum, VAWA (Violence Against Women Act), medical waivers, fear of persecution, and others.
